The Miracle , a bronze piece made in 1952 by the Italian artist Marino Marini (Pistoia, Tuscany, 1901-Milan, 1980), was one of the sculptures that did not remain in Santa Cruz after the I International Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition of 1973-74.
The work, which starting from classical formation explores volumetric primitivism, has broad emotional resonances within its figurative-expressionist line. It depicts in a relaxed manner the incredible balance of a rider on a horse supported on its haunches and hind legs.
The sculpture was located on the Rambla stretch near the Architects' Association building; it was later returned to the Middelheim Museum in Antwerp, which had lent it for the Chicharrero Exhibition.
