Street Sculpture Route I: 15. Untitled
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Route · Subcategory: Street sculpture I · Year: 1973 · Authors: Federico Assler
This work by Chilean architect and artist Federico Assler was created in 1973 for the I Exhibition of Street Sculpture. Located on one of the radial avenues of Parque García Sanabria, it is a set with great surrealist influence in its construction and a clear oneiric root.
Four anthropomorphic figures, like imaginary characters, stand in pairs engaging in conversation with each other.
Made of concrete with an almost white colouring, the figures become ghostly against the dark background produced by the greenery of the plants. This mysterious and undefined typology due to the horizontal cut at its highest part gives an imaginary assumption of a continuity of modulations.
The work conveys to us a mysterious and playful organicism.
