Street Sculpture Route I: 05. Untitled
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Route · Subcategory: Street sculpture I · Year: 1973 · Authors: Andreu Alfaro
This work, situated right on the Asuncionistas bridge, is another from the I International Street Sculpture Exhibition. Its author, the self-taught Valencian artist Andreu Alfaro, was founder of the Grupo Parpalló and has been invited to participate in numerous important exhibitions worldwide. He is considered one of the most original and rigorous Spanish sculptors. Working with technological means, his work is associated with Constructivism, developing spatial radiant structures of great simplicity and seduction.
For this work he presented a metallic aluminium structure whose dynamic sobriety is truly unusual. A balanced, measured, open work stripped of any superfluous ornament, its appearance constantly changes depending on the viewpoint from which it is seen.
