In 1973 the Catalan artist José Guinovart (1927-2007) created this surprising tree-like work for the I Street Sculpture Exhibition.

An iron post is crowned by a large wheel from which ropes hang holding strange concrete fruits. The work shows a concern for rhythm and textures. In its vertical development the author’s extraordinary sense of experimentation is evident, not only regarding materials but also spatial conception. It is a set of eminently festive character, located in a lush and exuberant place in García Sanabria park. The sculpture blends, despite its considerable size, with the surrounding vegetation, as a harmonious and imaginative replica.
