Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Route · Subcategory: Street sculpture I · Year: 1972-74 · Authors: Joan Miró
This bronze sculpture is one of the most important works presented at the I International Street Sculpture Exhibition and has become part of the city's cultural heritage. Woman bottle or colossal insect, the work reflects the characteristics of metamorphoses typical of its author, Joan Miró, a brilliant artist and major figure in contemporary art. His humour, imagination and poetic enchantment are reflected in this magnificent work embedded within the great surreal tradition of the object. An abstraction of a woman resembling a bottle, with two curved elements on the sides representing arms and a concavity on the front relating to the female sex.
Initially installed on the section of the Rambla between the Plaza de Toros and "La Estatua", it was later located inside the Viera y Clavijo cultural park, and finally placed on Asuncionistas Avenue.
