The South American sculptor Alicia Penalba (San Pedro, Argentina, 1913-Paris, France, 1982) participated in the I International Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition in Santa Cruz de Tenerife with this work made in bronze in the form of a huge column.

It is a tree-like pinnacle of ascending plates that emerges like an uncontrollable vegetal mystery in the manner of a ritual totem with a powerful vertical thrust.

Located on the section of the Rambla between Viera y Clavijo and Robayna streets, this “cathedral” rose naturally amid the surrounding trees. A pity it had to be returned to the private gallery that lent it for the occasion.
