The extraordinary artist Henry Moore (Castleford, United Kingdom, 1898-Perry Green, United Kingdom, 1986) initially presented for the I International Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition in Santa Cruz de Tenerife this monumental Reclining Figure, made in bronze in 1963 as a working model for the impressive colossus split into two blocks that is displayed at the Lincoln Center in New York.
This work, which was in Santa Cruz, had already been committed in advance to the Tate Gallery in London, so it had to be returned after the Santa Cruz Exhibition .
Subsequently, the College of Architects contacted Henry Moore who agreed to donate a copy of The Warrior of Goslar , installed since 1977 very close to the place on the Rambla where Reclining Figure had been.
