Street Sculpture Route I: 16. Tribute to Millares
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Route · Subcategory: Street sculpture I · Year: 1972 · Authors: Claude Viseux
This sculpture is the work of French artist Claude Viseux (1927-2008) and was created in 1972 for the I Street Sculpture Exhibition. Located in the heart of García Sanabria Park, it mixes the technical possibilities of industry with moving and sound effects. Its magnificent design, made of stainless steel, rests on a concrete podium. It was not conceived exclusively for contemplation, since if subjected to movements made by the will of the viewer, the ensemble emits enigmatic sounds that are as surprising as the work itself. Therefore, the sculpture includes the interesting idea of participation by the viewer to achieve its artistic fullness.
Tribute to Millares presents itself as a beautiful metallic proposal of industrial character and constructivist conception of vigorous mechanism, apparently distant from the expressionist message of Millares, the honoured artist.
