This interesting sculpture, made by the influential artist Julio González (Barcelona, Spain, 1876-Arcueil, France, 1942), was loaned by the Museum of Modern Art of Barcelona for the I International Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition , held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 1973.

Julio González was one of the most important modern artists of the first half of the 20th century. Much of his life was spent in Paris, where he met Picasso. His innovative sculptures, mostly with cubist inclinations, reference the human figure, although they are frequently abstract. His works are found in the best contemporary art museums worldwide. 

Seated Woman No. 2 is a reduced bronze copy of one of his monumental works made in iron, following his mastery of autogenous welding, a technique that paved the way for the new forger-sculptors of contemporary art (David Smith, Chillida, Chirino, etc.). 

This small piece was temporarily installed in the square of the College of Architects of the Canary Islands, where it remained until its return.
