This spectacular sculpture, the work of Francisco Sobrino from Guadalajara (1932-2014), is located in the middle of the República Dominicana roundabout, at the junction of the Rambla, Belgium Avenue and San Sebastián Avenue. Originating from the I International Street Sculpture Exhibition of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, it was inaugurated in 1973.

Francisco Sobrino is internationally known for his exhibitions and works placed in public spaces. For Santa Cruz he created this magnificent mobile made of polyester painted red. It reaches 12 metres in height, being the tallest work among all those installed in the city for this street exhibition. The work is framed within kinetic art, to which artists such as Le Parc, Sempere, Vasarely, Soto, Cruz-Diez and Agam belong. The ensemble, with a great spatial development extending both vertically and horizontally, surprises the viewer with the contrast between its delicate and fine tubes and its opposing spherical ends. Everything produces a certain swaying that clearly makes the work participate in optical and kinetic combinations.
