Sculpture by the Venezuelan Jesús Soto (Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, 1923 – Paris, France, 2005) created in 1973 for the I International Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition .

The work is formed by hundreds of nylon threads hanging from a grid-shaped ceiling, intended to be an attractive signification and at the same time a fun experience, but with a clear communicative intention between the work and the viewer, in line with kinetic-light research.

Initially, its location was Parque García Sanabria, but the deterioration of the piece led to its removal. On the occasion of the II International Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition in 1994, it was decided to restore it and reinstall it in the park, but again, the misuse of its concept by children and adults, combined with lack of supervision, ultimately caused it to be removed for safety reasons in 2007.

The Cabildo de Tenerife once again supported its restoration and in March 2023, on the occasion of the commemorative events for the 50th anniversary of the first Exhibition, the work was displayed at the TEA.

The Santa Cruz City Council intends to reinstall Penetrable in 2024, this time in La Granja park, now with some type of supervision to prevent further deterioration.
