Enrique Marco Granados owned a large plot on Méndez Núñez street, opposite García Sanabria park, intended for housing construction. Since the volume of the work required a large financial outlay, the owner decided to build them in different sequences. He started at the corner of Santa Rosalía street, concluding this sequence with the first tower block. From there he progressed until reaching Pilar street. The entire complex was built in five years (1926-1931). The project was drafted by the architect Antonio Pintor, who carried out the idea of formal repetition with the aim of giving unity to the whole work. The colour of its façade gave its name to the entire complex.
