Casa Garajes Matías Molina

Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Civil architecture · Year: 1928 · Authors: Antonio Pintor y Ocete

This building was designed by architect Antonio Pintor in 1925 as a business and garages for the entrepreneur Matías Molina. It occupies a large plot located on the edge of what was the General Road towards La Laguna, in the section that would later be called General Mola Street and is currently known as Avenida de Canarias.

The building, completed in 1928, reflects the basic characteristics of an advanced eclecticism with some modernist touches. Even in those late 1920s years these architectural styles were beginning to be outdated, but despite this, Pintor deployed all his ornamental display along the extensive façade separated by a terrace. The spatial contributions of the interior are based on the work to be carried out: garages and warehouses on the ground floor, now completely altered; and offices and residences on the upper floors.
