House at the Confluence of La Marina Street and Anaga Avenue

In 1911 the City Council tried to organise the area of the city between La Marina street and what was then the start of the road to San Andrés (later, Anaga Avenue). They wanted to plan a large plot with a road layout that took advantage of the slope so that, while widening La Marina street, this area would be equipped with an infrastructure of warehouses and commercial premises urgently needed by the port complex.

Almost at the start of the slope the architect Antonio Pintor designed in 1913 the building we see today dedicated to housing and commercial halls. The technician uses a typology with a marked Anglo-Saxon character, although with clear modernist elements, such as the repetitive floral ornaments. He satisfactorily resolved the slope between the two streets by building a striking corner tower that dominated the entire port at that time.
