Torres Socas House

This is one of the first projects carried out by the architect Antonio Pintor in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It was drafted at the beginning of 1891 as a private residence for the owner Andrés Torres Socas, in one of the most noble areas of the city at the time, on San Francisco street, very close to the square of the same name.

The two-storey building contains elements of romantic classicist architecture (balustrades, urns crowning, lintels of the openings, etc.) combined with others that anticipate what Pintor would later develop profusely throughout his long career: eclecticism, which appears here in a subtle way.   

The façade contains very austere ornamentation. Stonework elements are interspersed with refined wrought ironwork in the closure of the continuous balcony, giving the whole front a clear sense of horizontality.
