This building was commissioned in 1897 by Luis Zamorano, an industrialist linked to the tobacco world, to architect Antonio Pintor as a home and residence for his family.

Pintor created a project combining the modes of Romantic classicism (treatment of exterior spaces, use of stonework, cleanliness of surfaces) with others of a clear eclecticism in the distribution and size of the openings on the façade. Inside, taking advantage of the generous dimensions of the plot, the floor plan revolves around a large hall where a graceful, slender staircase stands out. Also notable is the rich ornamentation made partly of French-origin stuccoes and partly of cast iron columns used in the common areas.

For years this building was a private residence. Currently, after a major interior renovation, the building houses the Social Security health centre of the populous El Toscal neighbourhood.
