This building located on Nicolás Estévanez street, just opposite the mouth of La Palma street, was promoted by the heirs of the businessman José Ruiz de Arteaga to be used for real estate business: rental of both commercial premises and residences. In 1898 the architect Antonio Pintor drew up the plans.

We are faced with a two-storey building where the ground floor is used commercially and the upper floor is intended for residences. In the spaces designated for commercial premises, Pintor proposed the use of prefabricated iron pieces on the exterior. The overall appearance is that of a work of some stature. Special care was taken with the ornamentation, with a cultured treatment in line with the latest design trends being imposed on the continent at that time. We should especially highlight the cladding with polychrome tiles that covers the façade. Splendid tiling that shows delicate neo-Renaissance decoration, forming a rich iconographic programme.

It is a pity that the street where it is located is not one of the busiest, which diminishes its urban impact. The quality of the work is excellent, preserving its richness despite having suffered a fire and, later, total abandonment of the property.
