In 1930 Bernardino Simón Balagay, promoter of this unique building located at the corner of Plaza de la Candelaria and Calle Candelaria, imposed as an unappealable condition the use of a historicist language influenced by his connection to the Hindu world. To comply with this condition, the building's architect, Antonio Pintor, used a few identifying elements wisely distributed to create the desired optical effect: a construction of Indian tradition and repertoire. Notable are the pointed arches and the domes crowning the pillars of the rooftop parapet, combined with arabesque capitals and a series of very striking neo-Nasrid columns. All this gives it the appearance of exotic architecture situated at one of the city's most representative points.

For years this building suffered obvious neglect, although recently it has been completely renovated for exclusively commercial use.
