Ledesma Building

This building was designed by the architect Antonio Pintor in 1928 as a commercial headquarters and offices for a shipping agency. The businessman Antonio Ledesma Barbuzano, for whom Pintor had already designed a spectacular residence in the Barrio de lo Hoteles ten years earlier, commissioned the technician to create a building, this time, as the headquarters of his company: Consignataria Ledesma. 

It is one of Pintor's later works, reaffirming an eclecticism somewhat out of fashion at that time, but highly sought after by a clientele wishing to project prestige and opulence, especially as it was to house the headquarters of a prosperous company.  

The property has four floors and a semi-basement. The façade, facing two streets: La Marina and Emilio Calzadilla, is divided into two units separated by a balcony that runs across the entire front at mid-height. A restrained but effective ornamentation reveals various elements that adorn its entire exterior.  

Given the commercial and work-related nature of the building, its interior was designed to meet the needs it would have to face. Commercial use areas: functionality; spaces dedicated to meeting rooms and executive offices: spacious rooms with some decorative elements. Currently, none of its interior is original, as the building was completely emptied and fully renovated. 

The Consignataria Ledesma inaugurated its headquarters in 1929, located at that time in the heart of the commercial area linked to the businesses of the nearby capital port facility.
