Casa Clavijo
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Civil architecture · Year: 1908 · Authors: Antonio Pintor y Ocete
The architect Antonio Pintor drew up the plans in 1908 for this house commissioned by Blas Clavijo, owner of the plot located on Miraflores Street.
Pintor developed on this occasion the combination of two architectural languages: modernism and historicism; and he did so successfully. We must highlight the use he makes on the walls of different textures, with an exquisite treatment given to the art-nouveau ornament that frames the crowning of the façade.
In this work we can observe the enormous artisanal quality of the specialised workmanship that produced this sculptural modelling, following the complicated modernist techniques prevailing at that time.
